What We Do

Land-use policy is transformational because it affects all of us. It impacts our economy, environment, infrastructure, finances, and tax policy among many other areas. It is the stage upon which we live, function, and thrive.

Advocacy

Giving citizens a voice

Clark Coalition works hard to give you – the citizens – a voice in the forums where land-use policy is made: at City Hall, the Court House and beyond.

As our community’s only land-use advocacy organization, Clark Coalition fulfills a vital role to ensure that Winchester-Clark County achieves smart growth, sustainable economic development, and government transparency…securing a brighter future for this and future generations of Clark Countians.

We use leading-edge research, legal analysis, and best practices to take informed positions on growth issues that impact our entire community.

Through our lobbying and civic engagement activities, we advance several important policies including infill redevelopment, farmland promotion, cost-effective infrastructure improvements, environmental stewardship, appropriate building-design, quality of life amenities, and economic strategies that leverage our signature industries and cultural strengths in today’s 21st century world.

Education & Research

Good policy starts with good understanding

That’s why objective data, research and analysis are so important. They enable our local officials to make educated decisions that result in real progress for all of us.

We partner with highly-respected organizations, institutions, and experts to collect data and research that help our community better answer the question of not if we grow, but how we grow… today and in the future.

From the University of Kentucky to the Brookings Institution, we bring the very best resources to the table as we engage in our municipal planning and zoning processes.

Outreach

It takes a village

Only together can we build a thriving community rooted in the heart of our iconic and dynamic Bluegrass landscape in Winchester-Clark County.

Community outreach is at the core of our mission. We host events, neighborhood meetings, webinars, and guest speakers to keep our fellow community members informed and solicit feedback on the pressing issues of the day.

Information is power, and we maintain a social media presence to give you instant access, updates, and insights on the latest happenings at government and beyond.

Looking toward the future, we are preparing to launch a voter information initiative to let you know where candidates stand on the important growth, economic development, and government issues facing our special community.  As part of this effort, we look forward to hosting candidate forums and publishing candidate questionnaires to keep you informed about our elected officials, and their vision for Winchester-Clark County.

‍We are only as strong as our coalition of support, and we cannot do this work without YOU.
